3 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started Lifting

I wish someone told me these 3 things when I started lifting.

First, you don’t need to do 3 sets of everything. I’d much rather see you do one or two sets that you actually push hard than three lazy ones.

The last few reps — the ones that burn and slow down — that’s where the real growth happens. Don’t stop when it gets uncomfortable. That’s exactly when you need to dig in.

Second, don’t get lost in information overload on social media. Most of the stuff you see just doesn’t matter that much, especially early on. If you’re in the gym, doing basic lifts, and pushing yourself hard — you will grow. If you enjoy diving into the science and nuances, awesome. But don’t let it overwhelm you. Showing up and working hard matters way more.

And finally, don’t get discouraged by slow progress. It’s normal to compare yourself to influencers, but remember — they’ve probably been lifting for years. Muscle growth takes time. Stay consistent and you’ll be impressed with where you are in a year from now. Trust me.
